Back Pain PreventionPoor posture causes more back pain than most people realize. A lot of it can be prevented if we keep in mind the basic principles of good posture. The spine is designed to move gently and frequently rather than to remain in one position for a long period. Move and stretch often, especially if your seated in front of a computer at work. When lifting stand with a wide stance close to the object you are trying to pick up and keep your feet firm on the ground. Tighten your stomach muscles and lift the object using your leg muscles. Straighten your knees in a steady motion. Also throughout the day maintain ideal posture by keeping the natural curves of the spine rather than exaggerating or flattening them. |
