LaKOTA Ingredients

White Willow Bark- Used as an anti-inflammatory by many different Native American tribes. White Willow Bark is a source of a wide range of phenolic glycosides, the most important being salicin. White Willow Bark is used like aspirin. treating mild fevers, colds, infections, arthritis and pain cased by inflammation. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is a synthetic replacement for salicin but it has potentially dangerous gastrointestinal side effects and can cause stomach ulcers and bleeding. White Willow Bark is not as likely to cause gastric or intestinal upset or bleeding as aspirin is but persons with ulcers and gastritis should avoid the use of Willow. This is because Willow does not block prostoglandins in the stomach or intestines. This conversion process takes a few hours so pain relief will not be felt immediately like aspirin but will normally be sustained for several hours longer.

Yucca Root - Used for centuries by the Apache, Hopi, Zuni, Navajo and other Indian tribes of the Southwest for a variety of health purposes, Yucca contains the natural steroid spaonin, which is said to be an anti-inflammatory. Yucca also appears to block the release of toxins that inhibit normal formation of cartilage.

Sarsaparilla - Used by the Apache, Hopi, Zuni, Navajo and other Indian tribes of the Southwest for many ailments. This herb is known to increase circulation to the joints and reduce inflammation caused by arthritis. Sarsaparilla not only contains saponins and phytosterols, which are believed to contribute to its therapeutic effects, it also contains calcium, copper, iron, iodine, potassium, manganese, silicon, sulpher,Vitamin A, Vitamin C, B-Complex and Vitamin D.

Feverfew Leaf - Used by many Native American tribes for the treatment of chronic arthritis inflammation. The active ingredients in Feverfew help reduce pain by inhibiting prostoglandins and promoting vasodilation, thus reducing inflammatory reactions in the body.

Devil's Claw Root - Contains two components known as harpogoside and beta sitosterol. These components have pain-relieving properties. Devil's Claw is used as an anti-inflammatory in the treatment of arthritic conditions.

Bromelain - Is a proteolytic enzyme that inhibits the production of kinins and fibrin, which promote the inflammatory process.

Boswellia - Has a unique anti-inflammatory action and is the first herbal remedy to have documented clinical evidence that is useful in rheumatoid arthritis, osteo arthritis, low back pain, soft tissue rheumatism and myositis symptoms. Research shows that a group of triterpenoids, called boswellic acids, is responsible for this.

Collagen II - Derived from denatured (unhydrolyzed) chicken cartilage, which contains the following mucopolysaccharides: Naturally occuring Chondroiten, Naturally occurring Glucosamines, Collagen Proteins, and Hyaluronic Acid a component of synovial (joint) fluid. Because these nutrients occur naturally in unhydrolyzed Collagen Type II, they are more easily absorbed by the body. eAch of these essential nutrients absorb deep into the living tissue in teh joint, and contribute to the lubrication and cushioning of the joint's structural support system.

Glucosamines - Dervied from Shellfish (crab or shrimp) shells. A specific Glucosamine combination (Glucosamine HCL and Glucosamine Sulfate) increases glycosaminoglycan production, which promotes healing of fibrotic articular tissue.

L-Proline: This is the primary amino acid in cartilage. It aids in maintaining and producing cartilage and helps strengthen joints, catilage, connective tissue and tendons. The L-Proline in LaKOTA formulas is plant based.

Copper: For centuries, people have been using copper to seek relief from arthritis and pain. The therapeutic value of copper has been passed on for generations. Copper is a mineral, and has a positive influence on blood circulation and metabolism. It also aids in detoxifying teh body - helping to relieve the pain caused by arthritis and rheumatism.
